Default Rear end failing. Again....

My rear end is howling on decel. Dope is full, no play in shaft. Amy idea what is going wrong??

This is not the first rear diff issue I've had.

Sounds like the pinion bearing...uneducated guess. If it was replaced before, could be it wasn't torqued enough. It's a pita because you have to crush the spacer (sleeve) near perfect to remove the end play. To the inexperienced they may think they have it tightened enough but the pinion will still be loose until they crush the sleeve. It takes the right amount of torque and it can't be loosened if you over torque it. You have to start over with a new sleeve. I think this is the reason behind the pinion nut defects and not from the nut itself. I mean, who put these things together at the plants in the first place? Not to mention, I've seen too many inexperience kids working at dealerships... mine especially. With so many overwhelming repairs and short handed there's no telling who helped replace these things (recalls). Check to see if there is any slack in your pinion gear, just guessing of course..

Not cool.

If you like your truck I would keep it. Talk to the dealership and the tech who repaired it and who is going to repair it. If there is no warranty I would go to the best 4X4 shop around and have them install an LSD of your choice. I know it's a headache, but it not worth loosing the money when it can be fixed right at the right shop and guaranteed.

At this point I'm just sick of it. I'm ready for a change. Tired of the numerous issues this truck has had. It should have been lemoned.
