Default OEM air springs

Has anyone figured out if the 2013 ram 1500 air springs will fit the older 1500's? I have been contemplating doing something with my 2011 but haven't come up with anything affordable for my application. My truck is off road quite a bit so the air bags in the coil doesn't seem like a good idea.

Why would the in coil air bags be a bad idea if you off road quite a bit?

However there's a huge difference between putting the in coil air bags on or a full air suspension. They are not meant to perform in the same way. What exactly is your plan with putting in air suspension? A smoother ride or more stability/load leveling?

I just feel that the mud and grit along with ice and snow in the winter would cause them to wear out in a hurry. A friend of mine (mechanic} had installed them for another friend of his and had lots of problems. So I was more interested in either the TLC style or maybe the new OEM style. looking in the mopar online cateloge they don't seem that pricey, but I haven't heard how they stand up or if they are compatible with the older suspension systems.

The main reason for the air ride is to maintain my normal ride height while being able to carry some payload in all conditions. I presently use timbrens but ride suffers when I have a load on. when it is muddy just the mud is enough to have it sitting on them full time. It makes it pretty hard on everything including me.

Oh okay. Well honestly I would rule out going to the new OEM air suspension option. I can definitely see it being very costly and not worth it for what you are looking for.

I have the Airlift 1000's and know many people who do as well and haven't heard of anyone having problems with them wearing out from grit/road conditions. The benefit to them is that they are very cheap and easy to install. Airlift does have a lifetime warranty as well so if they do wear out for reasons like that they should provide you with new ones.

The TLC kit is definitely a good option as well. Just a little more pricey. They are capable of handling more PSI and therefore more weight handling though. So that's definitely an upside. The one downside I've heard with them is that even with the lowest recommended air pressure in them they are lifting the back end of the truck giving you more rake.

I installed my bags with a WirelessOne compressor which makes them super easy to use. I can inflate or deflate them with a push of a button whenever I need to. I'd definitely recommend the on board compressor no matter what bags you go with.

I definitely agree on the air compressor... i had an air bag set up on my 2006 Dakota and found out the expensive way what happens when you aren't monitoring the air pressure. I was wondering if anyone has actually seen the rear air set up on the 2013's and whether it could be added to a earlier year, say with just an air compressor.
