Default 2013 factory brake controller in 05 ram question

Don't know if this has been posted already and I have been searching for the wrong thing but here goes

Main question I have is will it work in my 05 ram. I like the way it blends in with dash and I have a good idea where I would cut and mount it to. I have a brake controller already in my truck but I have it wired to where it sits in my ashtray and it just bothers me because I like clean interior and it throws it off with a blue box sitting in my ashtray. I would be wiring it up and I'm confident I can wire it right but I didn't know if there was was a like fail safe or something in the factory controllers that only lets it work with the new rams.

Thanks for help and input guys.

From what i've seen it ties into the EVIC. I'm not sure if it can be used without it

Can't answer your question but can tell you I got stupid and pulled the brake controller out of my '11 and cut the wires to help a couple of others here on the forumz. Cutting the wires fried the TIPM for a $2500 repair. I traded the truck. Good luck but be careful!
