Question electric folding mirrors will not fold

the truck was equipped with trailering mirrors that do not fold in electrically. I wanted electric folding mirrors.

the dealership swapped out the mirrors I wanted from a truck they had on the lot.

the mirrors work as far as being heated and they can be adjusted from the cab, but they cant get them to fold in with the electric button control.

I was told that there doesn't seem to be any codes to tell the computer to accept that command and maybe a fix will be available sometime down the road.

anybody here have a solution to this problem?

seems to me if you can order this feature from the factory, there should be something can be done away from the factory.

thanks for your time.

Did you pay for this option? Is it in writing anywhere? If so, then don't accept no for an answer. You paid for it so they need to find a way to provide it to you.

I would call Chrysler directly instead of dealing with the dealership, those guys are absolutely useless when it comes to anything out of the ordinary

I don't know about the 13s but electric folding mirrors means the adjustments are electric and the mirror will fold manually if you want too.

so for '13 there is the electric (adjustment) power folding mirror. it is standard on the tradesman? sport and laramie/longhorn. you pay an extra $100 for the tow mirrors, which do not power fold.

the wiring is different on the two.

for the OP: if the dealer swapped out the mirrors for you, then they changed the wiring, and I'm assuming they also swapped out your window/mirror control panel so you now have the power fold button?

non power folding:

Power folding controls:

the dealer may have to flash the truck... if the dealer did the swap for you, make them finish the job!

yes. I now have the power fold button.

I don't know what "flash the truck" means, but i'll pass this info on. the thing is, they got the other 2 functions to work..the heated mirror works and the remote adjustment buttons work fine.

thanks for your quick replies.

I will call Chrysler..as suggested..but the local service dept. has supposed to have done that already. I'll talk with the service manager as well. I haven't actually talked with him/her. I'll let you know what I find out.

thanks!

I can't tell that you have the fold button or not on the picture. It's right between the L and R buttons under the mirror adjuster. Mine has a logo in it yours looks black but maybe its my phone.

the second pic, sent by quicksilv3r, shows the fold button. I now have that in my truck..but of course it doesn't activate the mirrors to fold. its just...well...window dressing!

This seems to be an issue with many people who have swapped out their tow mirrors with the power folding mirrors. I haven't come across anyone who's been completely successful yet. Not to say that it can't be done, but there seems to be more to it than a simple swap.

it seems that the mirror issues are that if it did not come from the factory with them, even if you add them later, and try to flash the computer for them, they won't work, same as on the 2012's, if they did not come with the puddle and turn signal lights from the factory, and you would swap for new mirrors that had them, they could never get them to work and you would have to hard wire them into the truck. I hope they figure it out for you. Hopefully they will find a way to get them to work.
