Default 6.1L intake manifold upgrade on 5.7

has any body done this upgrade? I would llike to upgrade the 5.7L intake manifold to the 6.1L along with the fuel rails. Is this even possible? what modifications would need to be done? would it even be worth it?

if you want to dress up the bay then sure but to expect performance per your mods + cost + install involvement then it would be better to keep the 5.7 manifold.
Positive thing going for you is the 6.1 manifold intake ports will match up to the eagle heads design.

It's a direct bolt on, just clock the throttle body 90 degrees. As mentioned above the performance gains aren't that impressive because the '09 truck intake manifold has the active runners so it maintains the low rpm power and still flows nicely in the upper rpm. Unless you're planning boost you won't be able to really take advantage of the 6.1L manifold without losing some of your bottom end.

To you and Ramfd...I think it would be worth the swap, better port match, and it's not made of plastic. Like CdRam says or maybe you may be able to eliminate your cai box all together by scrapping your fan and shroud and leave the tb on the 6.1 as is? And use a 90 degree tube facing out to the right front radiator...just a thought?

You got to get the short runner valve written out of your tune... And you need to either clearance the throttle body or the intake manifold so the throttle body will bolt up to the manifold. Its not as easy as just clocking the throttle body 90 degrees cuz the lip of the cover on the throttle body touches enough to not let you bolt it up the only way possible for our motors... So your gonna need and aluminum bit and a hefty drill so you can grind a small area where it touches...

I was going to put a pod filter right on the TB opening and have a nitrous plate between the manifold and the TB so I wouldn't have to grind anything or rotate the TB 90 degrees.

Alternator is in the way of the TB you have to turn it so that the TB cover is facing up...

And then comes the question of how are you going to run the fuel rails because our stock line wont reach that far lol... I suggest getting Arrington Fuel rails and doing all the plumbing with jegs stainless hose and getting the fittings like i did and replacing the stock feed line from the gas tank completly.
