Default Debadge= bad results.

Hey guys thought i would share this. I debadged my truck awhile back and noticed that there was some white shadow that would not come off. I tried everything i could think of to take it off and even took it to the body shop where they said it is in the paint. If you look in the pic with the badge above you can see that it is the letters of the badge. Strange i thought, but he said that there could of been space between the letters and the 3m tape and the body and with the sun beating on truck it could of superheated in behind where the air gap was therefore making the paint do this being a metallic paint. So i love the clean look but this makes me soooo mad and it is on both doors!! so i am now in the works of getting some custom badges made at billet badges.

This is the custom billet badge i am getting made up to cover it.

Why not take it to a professional detailer and have them give you their opinion as to whether they can fix it?

They will not be able to fix as this is in the paint and not the clear coat, only way to get rid of it is repaint the door.

Wow, i have never seen that. Sorry about the bad results.. I think your new badges will look sweet though! At least they are different than the stockers and are "REAL" badges. Good looking truck, like the color alot!

I used waxed dental floss to cut tape in behind badge, once the badge was removed i used very little heat on edges of tape to make it a bit more pliable to pull off and used goo gone to remove the left over glue. I did this for everybadge on my truck and all others were good but both of the heavy duty badges u can see letters. Like on the pictures you can see the E,V,Y,and D of the workds heavy duty. It is like this on both sides. It would not of been from the heat gun because i applied VERY little heat and i dont think i even used the heat gun on the passenger side and had the same result

This is the first time I saw that also. But I will say what you plan on putting over looks good.

I did mine this week end with a fishing line. Chrome pieces came off real easy and I used a plastic body fill applier to help me get the rest off. Goo Gone was so worthless that I threw it over to the neighbours property. Went and got a eraser wheel and it worked like a charm, now that was worth the money.
