All 5w20 is at least a synthetic blend. There is no full non-syn 5w20. <--- FALSE

Sorry. What I said is not true.

Just thinking aloud. I doubt the factory sends them with syn oil. My first oil change is coming up too. I used Penn Platinum in my F150. It seemed to do okay. Truck had 80k on it and never leaked a bit of it. I may do that again. Not sure on filters yet but probably k&n (really like the nut)

I run Castrol Syntec 5w-20 with Napa Gold oil filters. I change every 5000, as well as rotate tires.

One thing to keep in mind is make sure that whatever oil you use meets the Chrysler spec listed in the manual. I have always used Mobil 1 and was planning on using it in my Ram until I noticed it lacked the Chrysler spec on the back of the bottle. I have no doubt the oil is OK to use. My concern is with my dealer not giving me a hard time if there are any oil related warranty issues.

I think valvoline son power full synthetic has the stamp. I'm sure it would be hard for the dealer to even trace what oil brand you would use

Can't say for a 100% fact but I have heard (from a very credible source) that manufacturers actually do put tracers in their oils. They do this for legal claims against them. Not sure chrysler would go that far but wanted to put that out there too.

Castrol Syntec meets the Chrysler MS6395 spec. Mobil one doesn't have the stamp. I'm also not worried about my dealer analyzing my oil to see what kind of oil I put in. I'm worried that when I have to provide proof of oil changes at the recommended intervals that my receipt for the oil will list an oil that meets the spec. If I provide them with a receipt for 7 quarts of Mobil 1 and they want to be jerks about it, I don't want them saying that since my oil didn't meet the specs they won't warranty my engine. Mobil 1 would probably stand behind their oil, but it isn't worth the hassle to find out when their is another alternative. I found the Castrol at Walmart in 5 gallon jugs and quart bottles. That's likely what my first oil change will be with.

That's funny. The dealership where I bought my truck uses Mobil 1 synthetic.

Pennzoil Ultra is what I use. "Exceeds Ms-6395 spec" written on the bottle.
