Default Ram - What's new for 2014

A capless fuel filler. Woohoo!

http://www.***************/features/...14_ram_trucks/

It's a shame the 1500 isn't getting the 6.4 Hemi.

The forum won't let me post the link. Perhaps I'm too new. Anyway, you can find it right now on the main page of truck trend. Here are the highlights for the 1500:

"2014 Ram 1500

As we have reported in the past, the Ram 1500 is getting a 240-hp, 420-lb-ft, 3.0-liter light-duty EcoDiesel engine backed by the eight-speed TorqueFlite automatic. The regular 1500's base price with the 3.6-liter V-6 will be $25,295 (including destination); opting for the diesel adds $2850 above the price of a similarly equipped Ram with the 5.7-liter V-8. With the 5.7-liter and the six-speed automatic, the price goes up to $24,605. (Yes, you can get the V-8 for less than the V-6, but without the TorqueFlite automatic.) For the 5.7-liter with the eight-speed, it's $26,945, and the starting price of the diesel is $30,180, but the EcoDiesel isn't offered in short-wheelbase regular cabs. This price is for the regular cab, rear-drive long-wheelbase truck with the eight-foot bed.

New for 2014 is the front park assist system, which uses four sensors in the front bumper to detect objects that are as much as 47.2 inches away. In addition, the Ram uses a capless fuel filler. Plus, the 2014 Ram will be the first in its class to use F1234yf refrigerant in the air conditioner, which is said to help reduce greenhouse emissions. The 2014 Ram 1500s go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2013."

Capless fuel filler is all part of federal mandated changes. You see the same cap on most all other new trucks and motorcycles.
The 6.4 Hemi is intended as a commercial gas engine, low price alternative to the Cummins diesel. It utilizes only the 6 speed TorqueFlite trans. It is not an engine for the 1500 series but for the heavy series.

No effin way that i would park my Ram without a LOCKING fuel cap
it would be asking for a Oklahoma Credit Card or a pissed off EX to add something to your tank

oklahoma credit card

A length of hose, tubing, etc... used to siphon gasoline.
Example:
Monica sucked on one end of an Oklahoma credit card to start the gas flowing into her can.

Filler necks have had anti siphon screens for a number of years so no worries there. This is why criminals started the old screwdriver through the tank to drain fuel.

As for the pissed Ex, I guess stop pissing off women.

Truthfully I prefer the filler door latch inside the cab, like most cars have. Not sure why they don't do this on trucks.

The Ram diesels got the capless system in 2013 and most of the guys do not like it. The door has a seal but dirt can still potentially get into the filler.

Wish they had new colors. The standard ones offered are getting tiresome.

Also, the entire rear cab window should be made to go down just like a door window. The goofy little square porthole in the rear window is antiquated and should have been dropped back in the 1990's. If Toyota can have a sliding rear cab window, Dodge can certainly do it as well. It's not rocket science and the cost should be nominal since power window technology is used throughout the rest of the truck.
