Default Odd headlight issue

Have a 2010 3500 with the single style headlights. The other day I'm going home and get behind a tanker truck with a shiny chrome tank, so I can see myself. We're both in the turning lane and I notice the daytime running light is out on the side with the turn signal flashing. As we turn the corner, the signal turns off, and the daytime running light turns back on! We hit the next turn going the other way, and the same bozo thing happens there too! Put on the turn signal and the daytime running light goes out while the signal is on. So it constantly looks like I have one burnt out head light when signalling to turn. Tried it with full headlights on, and both stay on bright and solid with the signal. Only happens when using the daytime running lights, which is most of the time. Has anyone ever come across this one before and how did it gets sorted, before I take it in to the dealer and get my wallet emptied?

Thats the way they are suppose to work. So the dummy coming at you can see your signal is on & does not get confused by your DRL's being on & only sees them. I think it is a pretty good safety feature. It is surprising how people get used to a simple thing like DRL & do not even notice them anymore. What I notice more & more is the high number of vehicles running around with 1 light out. Especially GM & Chevy trucks.

Thanks for the welcome! I've since found out like the first post said, it's designed that way. I suppose it's a safety feature, but it sure looks odd. When I see others, I naturally think, "Bozo, don't you ever check your lights?" and now I are one. Wonder what other surprises are in store that I don't know about yet? Ah well, hi ho silver ........

Yep, designed that way as you siad, Dodge does it on many of their vehicles, had a Dodge Caliber and it did the same.

Once I came up to a Ride program at a 4 way stop with my right turning signal on. The cop tells me, "your passenger headlight is out", and was looking to quickly pull out his ticket book...I said, no it's not, it's the daytime running lights and they go out when I put the turn signal on...He says "i've never heard of that before, like I'm BS'ing him. I said, go to the front of my truck and watch when I turn the signal off, the light comes back on...he walks to the front and watches, then walks back and says, well I've still never seen that before, still looking at me like he thinks there is something wrong with my truck but lets me go anyway, looking like he hated to be wrong...

soooo, Dodge comes up with a safety feature that looks stupid and goofy. Big question now is there a way to have this changed? Wiring fix, software change? Whatever their reason for doing it, I don't like it and want to change if possible. Any thoughts?
