I think a majic spell may be required but I haven't run across the correct one.
Thinking about finding the power IN and putting a switch on it.

That's exactly what I do, too. I turn mine down to 5 every time I turn off the truck.

The only issues I'm still having with my 8.4A radio are having to press the "Shuffle" button when listening to USB every time I start the truck and it defaults to "FM" every time I press the "Radio" button, even if I was listening to XM previously.

Other than those two issues, I'm extremely happy with the performance.

The shuffle thing is driving me crazy.
It stayed in shuffle mode after I shut the truck off for about 2 weeks. Then last week it changed back to shutting off again. Very frustrating.

It doesn't make sense as to why Chrysler would screw with basic radio functions.

I haven't listened to much FM radio yet, but I didn't notice any popping sounds.

The defaulting to FM happens when I switch inputs over and listen via USB or Bluetooth streaming. Then, when I get in the truck the next time, hit the "Radio" button, it will automatically go to FM (even though I was listening to XM the last time I was on that particular input).

Well .... it seems nobody knows how to turn the radio off. Lets try it the other way round .... I am wondering, is there any body who has a 2013 RAM 1500 and who is able to turn his radio off? And by "turning the radio off" I mean you turn the radio off, you park your car, you come back, start the car, and the radio is still off ....

???

It seems I can only mute the radio temporarily .... after I start the car the radio comes back on again ..... :-(

Slowly I am starting to believe that it is not my lack of intelligence or a defect, but that Chrysler developed the radio that way.

So, is anybody able to turn their radio off?

I'm guessing there is no radio off because they integrated it with a back up camera and other navigation crap. But for those of us with 3.0 it seems even more pointless to not have an on/off switch.

As i stated above you can't turn the radio off only mute it. And as others have said it won't remember you muting when you start your truck up.

Why they designed it this way is beyond me, you would think it would at least remember that you muted it.

I think the only thing you can do is complain to Chrysler and you may see something in a future update to change this if enough of you do. To me it isn't a big deal because I usually turn my radio down when I get out. Don't want the kids to hear Opie & Anthony cursing when we get back in the truck.

It isn't just Chrysler - my Tundra Platinum was the same way (could turn volume down but couldn't turn system off).

The headunits are no longer just stereos - they're integral to many of the functions of vehicle nowadays.
