Default Trailer Tow Mirrors

Does anyone know of any mirrors available out there. Mopar lists them in the accessory catalog but the dealer tells me they are only available when ordered from the factory because there's some kind of ambient temp. sensor in the mirror and you cannot change the type of mirror you have. This all seems a little weird to me, but working in the automotive industry, in the design field, I know all about the bizarre stuff that can go on.

Anyway, anyone know of some aftermarket options or if the factory ones can in fact be switched?

I have an "Authentic RAM Accessories Catalog" in my hand right now that shows a pic of a 2013 Outdoorsman, with accessory #2 as Telescoping trailer tow mirrors. I'd suggest talking to the parts dept of a dealership. Please note that the OE style trailer tow mirrors add about 4 inches to the overall width of your truck. I have to pull in my driver's door mirror to get in and out of my 9' wide garage door! Oh, the tow mirrors are manual folding too.

2013 was the first year that Dodge began putting the temp sensor in the mirror housing. You also can not change out from a tow mirror to a standard mirror because of the wiring--the tow mirrors are manual fold while all the other mirrors are electric fold, so the wiring is not the same. You end up with either to many plugs or not enough. I've been trying to get rid of my tow mirrors for about 6 months and I finally gave up because I could not find anything that was compatable. Good luck in your search.

I ran these on my 2004 F150 and loved them. I called CIPA a few months ago and was told they should be available for the 2013 Ram with turn signal lights either at the end of June of beginning of July.

I have tow mirrors which are aftermarket on my 2013. I just disassembled my stock mirror. Pulled the temp sensor out and wired it into the aftermarket mirrors.

I believe the mirrors I got are listed on eBay as k2 ram towing mirrors. Just like originals but don't have blinker in them

That's disappointing to hear. I've also been wanting to to get rid of my tow mirrors. Getting tired of leaning across the passenger seat to pull them in when I'm parking in an underground parkade.
