Default New Vararam install tips and review

Installed my new Vararam yesterday morning, and thought I would share a few tips from my experience installing it....
FIRST--- before you do anything, once you unpackage the unit from the plastic wrap and styrofoam eggshells: unscrew the two wingnuts on the top cover and inspect inside the air element dish for plastic shavings. Mine had alot. Clean them out. The only thing that should go down your throttle body is air and gasoline.
Second--if you have one, a 10mm nut driver is more handy for tightening the hoseclamp nuts than a 10mm socket wrench. No big deal.
Third--For my 2013, (and I guess yours, too)-the wiring harness/horn removal step I found to be not 100% accurate. All I had to do was unclip the harness from the radiator support and move it downward. The horn is not even in the equation.
Fourth--There were only TWO screws (not three, as needed) supplied to attach the front air wing thing to the Vararam air cleaner tray up front.
No biggie, just use an appropriate size one from your shop or go to your hardware store.
Fifth--No matter what I did after the install, I just could not seem to be able to get the darn thing to sit perfectly level. It leans a little to the right. Why? No idea. I'm sure as soon as you close the hood on it, there is a positive engagement of the whole gasket surface to the hood, but you have no way of telling.
***After driving the truck for 30-40 miles, as instructed, to let the truck relearn the new fuel trim requirements, I did notice improved throttle, little more torque, and the mpg improved slightly. At W.O.T., it really opens up and pulls harder through the rpm band, and definitely gives a deeper exhaust note. (For you older school guys, think back to the 4 or 6 barrel carbs).
Overall, I'll give it an 8.5 out of ten overall, based upon instructions, materials, benefit, looks, and performance. I am sure that coupled with my new exhaust and eventual program, this thing will really come together and kick ass.
Would I buy it again? Yeah, definitely. Hope this helped.
(No pic included....they're all over these forums, just look up top in the header. Mine is orange.)

S.C. Express will become famous soon enough

Very good tip, 90% of us would never think to inspect the insde of a new air filter setup for debri. Plastic would probably not hurt anything in most cases but I agree with you 100%. It should not be there in the first place.
Jones MaxFlow 18" muffler swap, Green Performance drop in air filter..
