Cool 6th gear and cruise control ok?

I have a question. I'm towing a FW Rv weighing 9K. Is it ok to drive in 6th gear and in cruise control on flat ground? Btw, 6.7 liter diesel...

What RPM are you at when you want to throw cruise control on?

If you are towing you should probably be in tow/haul. If you are in tow/haul you won't make it to 6th gear. But on flat ground you should be able to use cruise control.

Tow/Haul keeps you out of overdrive. I don't know how wise it is on the tranny to turn off tow/haul while towing was what I meant to say. On flat ground you may think differently. Personally I wouldn't.

Tow/haul on a 68rfe with a Cummins is different. It doesn't lock out 6th like it does in the 1500's. You have to manually lock it out with the ERS if you don't want it going there.

You definitely want to keep it it 5th then. 1400 rpm is really too low to be driving unloaded let alone with a trailer. The general rule of thumb is that you want to be around 1800 rpm minimum when towing. Being a little higher is even better.

I did not know that. I stand corrected.
