Default Sorry guys, but I got to vent!!!

Bought a new 1500 Express in Feb. and like a dumbass I didn't check the paperwork really well. Three weeks later I found out the guy added $1700 for an extended warranty. I approached the finance manager about this and told him I didn't appreciate not being told. I also told him it was my fault for not looking at the paperwork more closely. (guys always check and don't do what I did)

I told him I wanted my money back and cancel the extended warranty because I have not recieved any thing from the extended warranty people. He informed me that he could only give the money to the finance people and it would come off my very last payments on the truck. I told him how I felt about getting screwed (although I did it to myself for not checking paperwork). I left the dealership pretty pissed.

I have gave this a lot of thought and here is my solution. (this is a matter of principle) I am going to pay my truck off and go back and tell him I have decided that he can pay the $1700 to the finance company. When he agrees I am going to pull out the paperwork and show him I paid the truck off. I will then tell him to make the check out to me because I AM THE FINANCE COMPNY NOW!!!

Do any of you see where I cannot collect my $1700 back and cancel the extended warranty? I want to be sure I have my ducks in a row before I go back in there..any info will be aprreciated...Thanks, just had to vent.

How many months did you finance for? I understand your frustration, but my extended warranty only added around $13 a month to my payment, and in my opinion is well worth the cost. Just my two cents.

I financed for 5 years but I will only put about 10,000 miles a year on truck. I am retired and don't have to drive that much. I will be happy with 5yr. 100,000 warranty.
Had I known he had added the warranty, I would have had a chance for decision, I would not have taken it and told him that very thing.

Oh, I was also told the extended warranty was for 7yrs. 70,000 miles. I guess it will not pay after that mileage.

But like I said before I want to cancel if I can.

The them not telling you is bs. I have bought 40+ cars and have never had this happen. On my last one the finance guy gave me my monthly payment and said the warranty only added $6-$7 a month. I demanded to know exactly how much more a month.......turns out it was $17 a month.......no thanks.

On the money issue I have had extended warranties and have had them cancelled before as well and they actually are not sold through the dealer, yes they fix your truck and yes any dodge dealer will honor it but it isn't sold by your dealership or dodge specifically. That is important to note as they won't just write you a check if you walk-in to cancel and prove it is paid off.

It is 100% normal that if you cancel they send a check to the finance company. It does not affect your payment but it does ALL come off the principal owed on the vehicle none of the payment goes to interest. If you pay the vehicle off or trade it in and have the extra paid off, you can cancel the warranty and it takes 4-6 weeks as they have to notify the warranty company and get your money back to you in the mail.

I say list them in the bad dealer section/thread, that's definitely some shifty business. Personally I went for the extended warranty, I bought the lifetime Max care w/ $100 deductible for $2500. It's cheaper than a tranny rebuild if that unfortunate event ever arose. But I plan on keeping if till they stop making parts for it so for me it was a no brainer. Really depends how long you keep your vehicles for.

I don't mind waiting 4-6 weeks or whatever it takes.
As soon as I get the paperwork back to show the loan is paid, I will go to the dealership and have it cancelled.
They will cancel it won't they?? Am I going to hit a snag here?

They will cancel it anytime you ask them too so don't worry about that. They may still try and sell you on it but they can't make you take it. they will need the mileage off your truck so just make sure you take it when you go see them.

where they can "get" you - is one time I had a dealer who drug their feet and kept blaming this guy and that guy and it took about 4 months to get my money back.

I call BS. I had a extended warranty on my used 09 and they denied a claim when the driveshaft fell off because my tires were 285 instead of 275 stock size. I called the finance company and told them to cancel. The full amour of $1100 was credited to my loan with the bank within 2 weeks.
