Default Drone perception

I'm amazed at all the varying reports of drone I read about. In both the 14 and 18 I hear everything from zero drone to unbearable drone.

How can this be? How can one person say the 18 doesn't drone at all and another says he had to take it off his truck because he couldn't stand the drone?

Is the difference the person's sensitivity to it? Or could there be a difference between different. Cab/bed lengths because of it changing the resonant frequency of the cab? Of could it be an install issue like having the tips further in or further out?

I just found out Boesch Built, which is just like Mufflex with better stainless and clamps, is right here in my home town. So I'm probably going to pick one up tomorrow.

Like everyone else I'm torn between the 14 and 18 because of my fear of the drone.

I have the 14" and I can tell you there is some drone at certain rpm but for me it is tolerable.. City cruising (60km per hour/1500 rpm) has a little drone but it is more of a nice exhaust note.. On the hwy (100-120km per hour/2000 rpm) the drone is very minimal.. I guess its a matter of personal tolerance.. Cause personally I love the sound! The 18" is quieter than the 14" so maybe to be sure go with that one.. But so you know, the 18" will also be quieter at full throttle so you have to decide if you want a great deep sounding muffler or a quieter one
