If you do remove it make certain you mark the location of the pivot bar on the upper to retain your caster/camber settings. Also might be a good idea, if you remove it to redo the control arm bushings. But you should be able to get a pickle fork in there and pound away otherwise. A puller is a mute point unless you are reusing the ball joint, or trying to save the boot, which gets replaced anyway.
