Default 2001 ram slow start

Hi, I have a 2001 Ram 1500 318 cu. in. Around 1 month ago, it started to crank longer, before it started. Only the first time, of the day, I started it! After the first time it started perfectly! I since replaced, plugs, dist cap, rotor, plug wires. The battery is 1 1/2 years old. I have a specter, cai on my truck, for over 1 year. Before this a couple cranks and it started, no matter what the weather. If it is normal, that is OK ! I don't want to be broke down somewhere. Anything I should look at before it cost me big money? The truck runs Great! The truck has 129,000 miles on it!
Thanks pattym

Check the crank position sensor where it goes into the bell housing at the back of the passenger's side head and make sure it's clean and there's no rust on it.

Warlock 111, Could you please tell me how to go about changing the crank sensor? I can feel it but I cannot see it. The crank sensor was replaced Oct. 06 when the truck
would not start. I do not want to be stuck somewhere.

It should look like this. There are 2 bolts that go through the 2 holes. I think either 2 8mm or 2 10mm bolts hold it in

There's two ways to check the crank sensor first is to check the resistance but that's only good if you know the specs for that particular brand sensor. Next is with an oscilloscope.

I'd first start by visually checking the Battery's terminals then standing voltage(before first start). Then check the CCAs. check the battery's chassis ground and wires associated with the starter(trigger/B+/ground). A battery that is a yr and a half old is half a typical battery's life span and they commonly fail early. I wouldn't be so eager to dismiss it. Then again, the battery should always be the starting point for the beginning of any starting issue aside from fuel level. LOL
