Default 8 speed shifting

Love my truck so far but was wondering how other 8 speeds shift. Mine seems to shift from first to second normal and then from second to third very quick and then into forth. Anyone else have that. Seems to just blow through the first 4 gears driving normal.

I can't say that I noticed anything that made me wonder what was going on??

I have the same V8 8 speed engine as you, so perhaps later today when I head out I will see what it does.

Shifting is fast during a normal launch from, for example, a traffic light. The shifting is very smooth and the only way I can tell when the eight speed is shifting is by listening to the exhaust notes.

It probably is normal it just feels weird to me that by 35 mph its in 3rd or 4th gear already. The shifting is smooth as butter but like you said I can hear the exhaust and looking at the tachometer.

There's more gears to get through, so it has to shift faster than a transmission with fewer gears. Also, the computer wants to get you the best mileage possible, so it wants to get into a higher gear as quickly as possible.

It's normal

Have you seen how low the first couple gear ratios are in that tranny? It has to shift fairly quickly, its not a problem.

I believe it's normal, I test drive one and thought the same thing, didnt really like it, but guess you get use to it after a while.

I think it's designed this way but I have to agree. I feel like i'm skipping gears especially at WOT. I feel there is SOOO much more power to deliver but it is just being skipped over.

I can't wait for a tune.

i noticed it downshifts weird. like when im slowing down to stop the last downshift feels weird so sometimes i cant get that smooth stop because it downshifts almost right before it stops. speeding up on the other hand seems okay and smooth.

The 8 speed transmission seems to act more like a FWD car. It downshifts as you pull to a stop and is basically engine braking. Not a bad thing.. just causes for an unusual feel for a rear wheel drive truck.
