Default 2010 Ram 1500 Hemi questions

I just go my truck and am starting my mods. K&N system Y or N

What type of muffler gives the best sound? I want the rumble but not just out and out straight pipes.

Thanks for any comments

S&B, AFE, or Volant seem to be the most popular but your stock air box is highly efficient already. Most have just replaced the paper air filter with a K&N drop in. And as far as your exhaust wishes, sounds to me like youre wanting a chambered muffler with turn downs. At least that is what I get from your description of requirements. Good luck and congratulations bud!

Check out my mods list in my signature man. I've got the Flow master american thunder kit, its a catback. Sounds amazing. I then put in a K&N Metal CAI. Check that one out too. Both of them definitely made a difference in the sound and aggressiveness of my engine.

This! ^^

If you're going to replace the CAI, K&N is a terrible choice IMO. It will make more noise than stock and maybe flow a little more air but your intake temperatures will be hotter because of it's design. If you're dead set on changing it out completely either Vararam or S&B are your best options.

But as Gantman said, adding a drop in filter, adding an extra intake pipe to the airbox, and changing the pipe between the airbox and the throttle body will give you the exact same gains for a much cheaper price.

As far as exhaust goes I'm running the American Thunder cat back system as well which comes with a 50 Series HD muffler. It was made specifically for a hemi. There's a sound clip linked in my signature below if you're interested.

Thanks for the tips all. It sounds like flowmaster is the way to go both clips sound good and seem to be the sound I was looking to get.

Or get an electric cutout. So when you desire to be obnoxious you can, but on the flip side can return to nice and quiet

The mds when it kicks in has a tendency of sounding rather craptastic thru a flowmaster muffler.
