the 13 was entirely re-designed. not many parts change over. were talking apples and oranges here, your comment refers to inplant/dealer issues, were talking end user issues. they don't usually redesign molds, tools, or dies between builds unless its a big issue. I also said they get the bugs out for 14 not re-design. also the brand new parts now have another year of reg use on them, so when I order my 14 with an 8sp and air bags I will feel more comfortable that they have fixed ANY issues that have popped up. sure most of the trim and body are the same but the stuff under the skin is what concerns me.

Good to see forum members who work in the assembly of Dodge/Chrysler vehicles. I watched last year as the new 8 speed automatic slowly worked its way into production on a number of Chrysler vehicles and trucks. That is why I believed that improvements were made during the model year. However, now I am hearing that "fixes" are not addressed but have to wait for the next model year. I would presume that needed "repair fixes" get immediate attention on the line whereas design or engineering changes go to the next model year.
Teflon74: Does that sound accurate or can you describe it better?

Well, all I know is those boys who engineered, designed, and built my 20 year old Dakota 3.9 got it right!! That thing has been solid from front to back and all in between! So I know Chrysler can build a dependable truck! At least they could. Hope they still do. Hey, I might want to but another one some day.

Oh, I think I read the new Hemi with 8 speed will be rated at 23 mpg? I think?? I'm reading too many truck forums!

I'd be surprised. I think it was just a month or two ago they released MPG numbers for the 2013 with 8 speed. I just don't think they'd be able to pull off an improvement in MPG that quickly.

The 8 speed auto pays dividends big time:

The EPA rates the 2013 Ram 1500 4x4 Hemi with 8 speed auto as 15/17/21
http://fueleconomy.gov/feg/noframes/33474.shtml

The same Hemi Ram in 2WD with 6 speed is 14/16/20

from everything that i read
the only issues with the 2013 Rams is
the radio that can longer be called just a radio
& the tire rub
i expected to hear/read more about the new steering system going bonkers

A week from today, i will get my first chance to be around a 2013 Ram HEMI with no one but the owner around
unfortunately, it only has a 6 speed but it is a 4x4

Default Diesel to get 700 miles per tank ?

When I googled order ram 1500 diesel I get this hidden HTML code ... It doesn't appear on the actual web site, but you will see google has indexed it. Seems to indicate 700 miles per tank for the ecodiesel. That would be astonishing.
