Omegateck is on a distinguished road
Default 01 with poor mileage

I have a 2001 Laramie SLT 1500 with a 5.2 , 115k for miles and since new it has been getting about 8-9 mpg in city and 12 mpg highway. What gives? Every other Dodge with exact same specs gets 15-17 city. Any suggestions? It would be much appreciated.

Tune up/ basic maintenance would be a good place to start.

Beyond that check for drive train drag, or even a dragging brake.

If anything, pump up the tires...

15 to 17 in the city? Mine is a 98 but the best I've ever gotten is 15 and that was mainly hwy. Seafoam does wonders and I've found that Lucas fuel treatment about every other tank will keep mileage up too. Remember these engine don't like the new corn additives either. Heck, my versa would only get 22mpg on untreated ethanol gas and 30 on treated and it was an 08 model.

But a good tune up and treat the gas regularly and maybe you can increase the mpg. Also watch what others say they uncle claims 24 mpg in his reg cab v8 Chevy but he skews the math at the pump.
