This is what Remote start is for! Last year in 108F, it was awesome to start it up and have the AC and the cooled seats going full bore before I got in.

Recirculate is the key here. I've got a black truck as well and when its 100 out, it has a hard time keeping cool. Press the left dial on your AC console and it kicks into recirculate. Then the all the AC has to do is cool down the interior 80 degree air instead of outside 100 degree air. Once it cools down, put it back to regular outside air circulation.

The manual says not to run it on recirculate for too long... not sure why...

Mine works as well as to be expected for where I live. Everyday is over 110*, we have had some more humidity this year than most but having tinted windows on a black truck is a must! It cuts a lot of the interior from absorbing too much heat throughout the day and gives the AC a chance. As for condensation, its is almost a solid steam under the truck as I am driving. I'm over the heat...

I'm not sure if it works the same way if you don't have the dual-air controls, but I did some research and testing on how all this works. I have found that if it says LO, then no matter what it will be on recirculate, even if you do not have an indicator light showing it's on. And even if you don't turn it on after starting your truck. If it says LO, it's on recirc. (sync'd, both sides) The only way you can have it be outside air is if you don't have it on LO (61 or above) and have at least turned the recirc on once, then back off. Then you can make it switch between recirc and outside air simply by changing the temp from LO to 61 (or by pushing the switch on/off). Try it and see.
