Default 2x4 to 4x4 conversion

Hi so i recently picked up a 1988 d100 in great shape on the cheap (800), and was thinking about switching it to 4x4, as i understand the easiest way to go about this is to find a donor truck and switch front ends/ frames. as i was looking i cant seem to find any 4x4's let alone anything under 2g's for even the gnarliest of beaters so i was wondering if i could use the frame from a newer model like maybe a 98 or something a bit more common?

appreciate any help i can get. not looking to buy a new truck because this one is the one i want since she is a beauty

imho, you should just keep that truck stock and pretty. find some other 4x4 beater for use off road and in the snow. doesn't even have to a dodge/ram.

I have the exact same truck but with an a lot worse paint job but I would really like to do the same swap. I've been doing a lot of research and understand that in everyone's opinion they say don't do it but I want to do it just to say I've done it but I don't really know where to start any help is appreciated thanks.

if it were mine i'd make it a real badass drag truck. i love that bodystyle. than find an old 70's power wagon and go serious off roading. than you could keep that sweet 2wd as a racer and street machine.
