Default Running 35" w/33" spare

How many people are running 35" tires with a 33" spare? This is including Limited Slip Rears. If so, have you had or any issues with this? Just courious.

I am. Never bothered to upgrade the spare when I put 35's on. I haven't had to use the spare, so I can't comment about that

I've heard its ok and not ok on using a smaller/standard spare with larger tire sizes and was wanting to check on here to see how many people are running their standard spare or had any opinions on does and don'ts

Well, it depends on what you are willing to risk. If you try and run a smaller spare, it has to go on the front and when you are in 2wd otherwise you are asking for it. The limited slip will go bonkers if it is on the rear and if you are in 4wd, the driveline will be at war with itself. So, consider if you had a flat on the rear, you would have to swap for a front tire and put the spare on the front.

I had the same dilemma on my Wrangler when I went with 33's from 31's with a lift kit. I decided to pony up for the full size spare and was glad, glad, glad I did. I tore up a tire in the mountains of Colorado about 10 miles from pavement. I was WAY back there and the terrain was fairly rough. I probably could have made it back in 2wd...maybe but only because I had a winch, but it would have suuuucked.

After that experience, I go equal size spare every time or don't get bigger tires. This was the easy part of the road back.

I just bought 35s and did occasioninally think about this, but thought about the last time I had to use the spare.

Spike - nice view, and good points.

Anyone know if a 35 will fit in spare compartment?

No, it won't.

I am looking into tire mounts for the side of the bed myself. There isn't much out there and what is out there is way too expensive.

I suppose I need to just build one myself.

I figured it would not be that easy. Thanks!
