I personally would get a new OEM pump. and about it not leaking as fast, the difference would be unnoticeable.

I disagree with the oem pump.

On another note, I've been watching the thread and was wondering how the oil pressure is after the last few days and if the 10w40 broke down yet? As I had said, the Lucas will stabilize the oil but will increase the multi-grade weight up under 20w-50.

One other thing I WAS going to mention was that you should install a lower temperature thermostat to have the truck start cooling sooner. 10 degrees of heat is a lot to oil, even if it's an ambient temperature.

Additionally, I was going to suggest you check the trailing edges under the truck as the oil will accumulate on them while driving due to the force of the air blowing under the truck and appear to be leaking from other places along the drive-line.

But I didn't want to appear as a "smart azz"

Warlock, been driving daily and oil pressure has not dropped one single time. I will give it a few more days and check oil level.

I have other problems with the truck now. It needs a Condenser fan motor. A/C gets hot when at a stop light and fan is not turning. Relay and fuse is fine. I swear this is the last Dodge/american owned I will ever buy. Im going to fix all this shit and trade the damn thing in. Its done been in the Transmission shop TWICE for repairs, once for torque converter gone, next for a band broke and fell down and would not let it do into Park. Been at the Dodge dealership for a "AIRBAG" light kept coming on, $500 fix that ONLY Dodge could do/program. The damn thing keeps messing up in the tail lights the "Lamp out" light goes crazy then I pull the bulb to find out its not blown, but the little wire on the bulb is melted into the plastic housing. So I keep having to take a razr blade and pick the wire out for it to work hopefully another few months then it WILL happen again. Say "well it does have alot of miles on it"?? Wrong, this all happened UNDER the 100,000 mile mark and the first tranny job at 88,000 miles. Airbag light at around 95,000. Thats ridiculous!!

Sorry guys, in just venting, but I will bet you my whole next paycheck this will the last Dodge vehicle I ever own. Probably the last american made PERIOD!! I am just spoiled to my Hondas I have had in the past selling them still running perfectly fine with close to 300,000 miles each, original motor, original tranny, hardly EVER in the shop at all. And if so its just normal wear and tear things.

Error code for what? Im not getting any check engine light or anything if thats what you mean. I just checked my fan motor by straight wiring it and its not turning at all, so I guess its done for. Thats another $89+tax fix.

*sigh*

The panels your tail lights plug into may be going bad. They can be bought at a parts store and as I recall, are pretty cheap.

This may have been mentioned by now but check your oil pressure sending unit. Mine went out and needed to be replaced. I was shitti'n bricks when my pressure would drop but turned out the pressure was fine, the sending unit that records the pressure was bad.

I was worried and paid the $175 the dealer wanted to replace it, since then I found out it is a pretty easy replacement to do yourself or have a buddy do it for a case of beer.

also: don't mess around with oil pressure problems! Get it figured out.

ALSO: My mechanic told me to NEVER deviate on the oil weight of a MDS engine. your's doens't seem to have MDS but thought I would mention that.

Try a K3 code search and see if anything comes up as stored.

I'd lean towards a Radiator Fan Control Relay or a Condenser Fan Control Relay if your truck isn't equipped with the First one.

Warlock, my problem was actually the fan motor itself, just put a new one on. All is good there now.

Also, update on oil pressure, so far (fingers crossed) it has not dropped one single time since that last oil change. Do you think it was possibly the cheap oil I was putting in there to "top" it off? Maybe breaking down too soon. Or maybe that combined with the weight I was using?

Cheap oil does seem to break down sooner and thin out. Just keep your fingers crossed.

I'm glad to see that it's holding up and hope that it continues.
