Default Best Buy audio install

My wife was telling me that best buy do audio installs on vehicles,
Would anyone trust them to install dvd players etc.. i want to find a good deal as my wife wants to get the dvd players for the kids but i would rather have them in the headrests and I'm not too sure if thats a place i would want to drop my truck off..

Don't know if you have a sunroof? If you do I think you need to get the head rest ones. This would be a good question to ask.

BestBuy???

Nope nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope Nope

My friend had them install his first set of subs along with a new head unit a few years ago. Well when we ripped it all out we found out how shitty of a job they did.

The were too lazy to match the correct speakers to the radio. So the rear drivers speaker was actually the front right according to the radio..

And they grounded the amp to a crappy spot under the seat with a single loose SCREW.

I will never let them install anything of mine.

They are probably going to charge just as much as an audio shop would to do it. And although drummer's friend had a bad experience, this is one store, that doesn't mean they all do installs incorrectly. If you could find someone who has had an install done by the people at that store ( probably not going to happen) or talk to the person actually doing the install it would give you an idea of what your working with. I personally would let the guys who specialize in this stuff do it at a reputable shop if you aren't going to do it yourself.

I had an 91 Explorer Eddy Bower Edition, that I blew the stock sub out on, so I decided to use best buy since they were having a sale on Car Audio equipment. I spent clsoe to 1500 bucks on all my equipment plus the cost of the instal. When I got the SUV back, the system was very poorly installed, The door speakers weren't flushed into the doors correctly, the factory rear sub cover was broken and not even tried to be reattached, and the worst part was 6 months later I decided to add a CB, so pulled my dash cover to gain access to some wires and found that my factory wiring harness had been hacked apart instead of using the conversion harness I had paid for.

I have always asked around town if anyone knows a good shop for this or that

Like a guy driving a Hot Rod, i would ask who he knows that installs security systems for old vehicles
ask the guy in the Auto Parts store who is the best shop or person who installs audio equipment
pretty soon you have a list of shops & people that work out of their own garage

the guy that did all my electric wiring was recommended by everyone in town !!
He had a shop that was too confining & then got a bigger shop.
Everyone wanted him to work on their river craft, semi trucks, motorcycles, cars, pickups, etc.
He had a waiting list, so you had to pre-schedule an appt. sometimes weeks ahead !!!

This sounds like my Dad's shop. He started out in his garage, then moved into his father in laws barn, and eventually into his own shop. now 30 years later he still has a waiting list of at least 3 weeks out... I can't even squeeze in to change my oil.

Here's what you do to decide.. drive in, look at the kids who are installing the radios, realize that 1) they are not college graduates and 2) there is no college courses for stereo installations.. so experience comes from time on the job.

My daughter took her car there for an install of a Parrot blue tooth. It didn't work correctly when she got it back, and their wiring eventually burned up the display of the stereo. (wired the orange wire, which is the dimmer, to constant 12v). Then my daughter called me and told me what she'd done. BB ended up buying us a new radio.

I went with the DVD players you can strap to the head rests, remove and place into another vehicle. I did not want dvd players permanently in my vehicle. They work great.
And NO, I would not let BB work on my truck...My truck costs too much for teenagers to practice on

No I had them install a overhead in my expedition and they cut too much out. When circuit city was around they did a good job. If you are thinking headrests possibly just buy the ones off ebay ? they are cheap. your truck your money
