Default fender flare paint

a new set of fenderflares are hopefully in my future. i cant justify 450+$$ to have em painted. who has painted their own, more to the point did you use normal paint. i know its recommended to use a flex additive. but im wondering will using regular paint hurt? i have no issue doing this myself, im pretty good with painting but not sure on this. any input appreciated.

Not being a smart ass here. If you had to go buy everything needed to paint a set of flares the right way where the paint will not come off on the first trip to the car wash. You would think 450 is a deal. Its about 4 hours labor thats $200.00 and $175.00 In materials. They are about $75.00 to high.

If you do paint them and they mess up and you have to have them fixed and repainted If you can find a shop to do it. $450.00 would not touch it.

Just my 2 cents. I posted a set of painted flares you can get from Dodge. If dark grey is your cup of tea.

You would need to sand them with 500 grit, wash them with plastic prep, seal them , base coat , and clear. We bake everything so no flex is needed. You hit them hard enuff to "flex them" they are going to need to be repainted anyway.

I had mine painted PX8 black to match my truck, they sealed them, prepped, painted 4 coats, sanded and polished, etc. cost with materials $300 cash, local paint shop, had them on the truck now over a year and no issues.

When I do flares in the near future im going to use rustoleum bedliner. I used that on my bumpers and grill and I love the texture.
