Default Power wire into cab

So I began the wiring of my lighting system (firefighter bluelights and strobes). Mounted the switch pack in the lower center console, and will run everything from it. Now I just need a way to get a +12V cable from the battery (possible a direct ground too). What have others done for this? I know the past yrs are similar so feel free to chime in. I am very familiar with penetrating the firewall, but this truck has a nice thick metal plate along much of the upper half of the inside of the firewall. I'm really looking for a nice place to make a hole in and be able to seal it off nicely. I'd also not like to rip apart that stock insulation on either side. There is that one plate that appears bolted to the firewall that sits up high and covers an existing hole, any thoughts about drilling through that and sealing it off? Just looking for ideas. Thanks.

On the Driver side, the wire harness of the truck goes into the cab through a rubber orifice. Under the wire harness, just on the bottom part of the Rubber piece you will see a Nipple that sticks out, if you cut the nipple its a hole to under the dash, just big enough to pass like 3 - 5 wires depending on the size of the wire. Hope I explained that well enough to so you understand.

I know exactly what you are talking about, and I saw it while poking around. So you say that if I cut the end I can use that as my chase? Are you currently using that "nipple"? I just need to pass a #4, possibly one for Gnd if it will fit. I'll scope that nipple out again, thanks. That would make it so much easier.

I used that on my current truck. I will be using on my new truck too. I hooked up my off road lights and my green led lights(volunteer firefighter) too.

Ive used this to run wires thru, a #4 AWG wire might be a challenge, thats a bit bigger then the hole after the nipple is cut off. The hole is big enough for 4 or 5 like 18 - 22 gauge wires.

Like most nipples it stretches, run it from the inside under the dash out to the engine side, you will see that nipple will stretch.

Don't suppose you could post a picture of the switch pack and a link to where you got it?

Thanks,

JD

On driver side under hood there is a plate with two bolts on it I drilled a hole in there, there is nothing on the other side of it just a open hole! Should be plenty big enough to fit a 4 gauge wire through

I used that nipple to run the air line through from the gauge to the compressor of my air lift setup. Had to lube it a touch to get it to slide through. I also made a whole through both sides of that large rubber sealer (grommet) to run the wiring then sealed it with silicone sealer
