Default 96 ram Wont start with exhaust hooked up, random stalling

I'm back with same problem, 1996 ram 1500 4 years ago truck would not start. Unhooked the exhaust from the engine and started right up, replaced cc and muff. About a year later it started just shutting off at random times. Replaced fuel pump, every sensor known to man. Truck ran for about 6 months then started the random shutting off, now it is back to not starting. Went this morning and unhooked exhaust again and walla started right up. Oh yeah I even tried a new comp in it ,that made it backfire and run worse, put the old one back in. I am at the end of the last thread on my rope.

What would be the most likely culprit of the cc being clogged enough to do this again. Or does this say something else that the truck starts after the exhaust is removed? Would it clogging up have cause the random shut downs. And there has been no cel codes.

Any thoughts ?

Oil clogs the cat. Something is probably leaking. Have you checked iac it will cause it to die at idle.

How does it run normally? Does it go through oil? Whats the fuel mileage like? You could have a bad injector or a broken ring ar valve stem seal plugging up the converter...

Ok , here we go again. Unhooked the exhaust system and waalaa the truck fired right up. The cat was in pieces again. My new problem is, put on a new cat, fired up the truck, now it is doing this fairly loud popping out the tailpipe. It is idling fine but just a constant pop out the rear end. Is this possibly a leak where it is hooked up or something more sinister going on?

I recently did the plenum thing and Im wondering if that could have been what caused both cats to fail, any thoughts?

Thanks all

Oh and I just changed the plugs to.
edit:Had a plug wire wrong, stopped the popping. Now the truck sounds like its choked up sounds like a v6 and it doesnt want to start or run. Sounds like the whole motor is muffled, never heard it sound like this.
Any ideas?
