Default Help with chirp from behind gauges

My '96 1500 occasionally makes a muffled high pitch chirp from what seems to be behind the gauges under the dash. It is random and only happens once in a while. Any ideas?

Is it rhythmic (when it's happening), or just an occasional chirp without any pattern?

It is just a single chirp--always the same. Does not sound mechanical. Sounds electrical--if that makes sense.

Try putting your head under the dash and take it for a ride down the street...

Just kidding. The reason I was asking if it was rhythmic is because that usually accompanies the speedometer.

How can I check to see if it is indeed the speedometer and is there any way to fix it?

watch the needle and listen there'll be a slight fluctuation in the needle.

Maybe you could hire a chirp expert to double as a GPS?

disconnect it from the cluster, if it quits you will know its the speedometer cable.
