Default 5.9 to 5.2 swap

Yeah, I know this is the reverse of what most people want to do, but bear with me.

I recently got a '99 4x4 1500, with a locked up 5.9. I just picked up a used 5.2 from a 2000 Durango to run in the truck while I decide what can/will be done with the 5.9. 5.9 is a lot harder to find right now, so this will get me by for the time being.
It's been a long time since I've run a Mopar, and just read a post stating that the 5.2 will require the torque converter from the Durango as well (different balance). Is this correct, or did I misunderstand? Having been a GM guy for a long time, I am unfamiliar with Chrysler transmissions after 727/904. I see comments about electric and hydraulic control, but does it change the converter? Are the transmissions the same between a 99 Ram and 2000 Durango? If not, I will have to study up to learn how to tell the difference so I can get the right converter. Thanks!

Balance weight for 5.9 was on torque converter til mid 90's, then was re-located to flexplate. The 5.2 requires no weight, so use either torque converter and whichever flexplate you have. Just make sure if it's from the 5.9 that you knock the balance weight off. The transmissions are the same.

Thanks, that helps a lot. I have both flex plates, so it should be easy.
