Default k&n drop in filter

a buddy was telling me he swears by the k&n drop in filters for a little better performance and gives the truck the CAI whistle/sound any one feel the same way? thinking about getting one rather then a whole CAI kit

IMHO, the K&N drop in isn't going to give you any significant performance increase. It will sound a little better, however. From what I've read, the 4th gen Rams have a great intake system already, and the only thing a CAI will do is make it look and sound more gooder. I use it because it does let a little more air in, however the computer adjusts for that, and I won't have to buy a filter again, just the cleaning kit.

I put one in mine and noticed a little better throttle response..... I mean a little......
The engine sounded a little louder..... I mean a little.......
If you want the CAI sound you should get a CAI.... if you want a lifetime filter and very minimal performance enhancement get a drop in.

I've put a K&N drop-in filter in every vehicle I've owned and have had the same minimal performance results, but I like that they flow better than paper filters, and that I don't have to replace them.

I have always used K&N drop in filters for the simple reason it's a one time purchase that pays for itself after 2 or 3 paper air filters.
I went a diferent route this go round and went with the Green Performance drop in air filter. Same exact concept as the K&N brand, it's just green. They are superior to K&N imo, they are made just a little bit better and are supposed to flow better. I too noticed an increase in throttle response with the drop in filter. I don't have to push on the gas pedal as far as I used to during normal driving.
