Default 2013 ram still have the diff issue?

I have an 11... very noisy differential noise (guess it's the torque converter?) and the interned is riddled with reports about pinion bearings and such... have they figured it out for the 13"s? My truck is approaching 60 K and it's time to trade her in... looking at going back to a Silverado.... any idea's?

as you know all brands have their problems. i have not read about rear end problems on the 13s. 60k, why not let the dealer fix your issues under the 100000 mile warranty, then decide if you need to trade. drove gmc all through the late eighties and through the ninties. i like the silverado. i do prefer ram over chevy, i find the seats suit me better in the ram. for the most part, i can't find reasons to bash chevy/gmc. my experience with them was very positive.

Well, the torque converter is between the engine and transmission, about where your feet go when driving, and the diff is the rear axle.......sooooo.....which noise is it?

My '13 hasn't been recalled, and I think they may use a new style of diff in the 13. I know the LSD for 13 is a torsen type instead of clutch type, but I'm not sure about the open diffs. This is purely speculation on my part, but I believe the Chrysler ay have a parts shortage of pinion nuts for the recall because they are giving priority to the new trucks being built, hence the recall shortage and the lack of recalls for the 13's. But that may not be the case at all.

I'm with you Gene, this Ram is my first vehicle, and barring some future accident it will be my last. Gonna drive it till I die.

I don't know about the 13 models but I have been here about a year. I have not read about anyone having differential failures in the 2012 year forum. I don't abuse my truck, but I do drive it harder than the avg. guy. No noises or problems yet.

Dump out the factory gear lube and refill with quality full synthetic at the prescribed SAE viscosity. Solved problems for my truck.

I had endless problems with the rear axle of my 1973 340 Duster. The dealer could never get it repaired properly under warranty. I finally gave up on it and lived with the noise and gear slop.
