Default Frame straightening information?

I have a 91 D-150 I recently got from my grandpa. He was in a minor collision not long before he gave it to me, T-boned someone just hard enough to crack the grill and bend in the bumper a little at the license plate. He said he thought the frame was bent so he paid a shop to have it straightened, and he thinks they did more damage than the accident. Both of the fenders now are all crumpled where the bumper attaches to them and one of the amber lights is now shattered. I had thought that was accident damage, but he assured me it wasn't like that until after the "repair"... and this is a small shop hours from where he and I now live.

Well now the truck pulls to the right pretty hard, and at first I thought that was due to a broken spring - which I haven't replaced just yet, but I found both springs are broken in the same place in the coil. Looking at it from behind, the truck still seems to lean on it's right, I also noticed that the driver's side front wheel sits closer to the front of the wheel well, and the passenger's front sits closer to the rear of the wheel well, and the passenger side wheel has an outward lean at the top (bad camber). Does this sound like the frame is still messed up? Should I consider it repairable? What kind of costs should I expect for the work?

I'm willing to go up to maybe $3000 in repairs on this truck, as it was given to me for free, has sentimental value, and under 70k miles on the engine.

Get it up on jackstands with the suspension "hanging" Do a cross measurement from the rt. side lower ball joint center usually the grease fitting. Measure from there to the rear spring hanger on the lt. side. Then repeat for the other side.

If you can find a place on the frame that has a hole the same as the other side a gauge hole would be better. If both side measure the same everything is Ok from there back and not knocked over. If there is lets say a 2" difference the front end is over 1 "

If this measures out ok go from the lower ball to the outside front edge of the frame. You are just getting cross measurements. If this is off its just bent in front of the cross member. If this is ok. Look at the gap around shroud and the fan. If its close on one side and gapped open on the other most likely just the front sheet metal has moved.

I would bet this is all that happened. Edit: the front end is just pushed over.

yeah if they let it roll into another truck or the wall.

I bet the frame is ok just the front sheetmetal is pushed over and back.

Those D-50 and mighty max's had a hell of a frame under them.

pictures would help.

I know a little bit about them the mighty max was mine and I sold it to Red jacket. I also built the bronco for Will.

Thanks for the help, Will, but I think you misread. It's not a D50, it's a D-150. Do you happen to have some measurements for that?

Yeah, I was busy today. I must have had D-50 on the brain. I should have the upper sheet metal measurements. As far as the goes. Its just like a house it has to be square. you can hang plumbobs and measure that way also. That will help with side to side length measurements also.

You can check for a diamond in the frame this way also.

I hope this helps have any question pm me Ill give you my #.
