Default Upgrading trans cooler?

I just bought the 06 4.7 2wd ram today and have Hurd ppl upgrading there trans coolers with bigger ones? Is this necessary on these trucks I've had many 90s dodges and all the trans was was junk they burnt up alot! What would be my bet options as far as coolers go? And we're could I hook in a trans temp gauge?

The trans behind your 4.7L is a good transmission, and the factory cooler is adequate, unless you are pulling loads beyond the trucks capability you shouldn't have any issues.

Ok I think ill just get a trans temp gauge to help monitor it. The only thing ima be occasionally pulling is a 16 ft tandem axle trailer with 4 wheelers

I think your truck will already have a factory signal coming from the trans for trans temp, you'd just have to look at a wiring diagram and figure out which wire to splice in to. This way you don't have to add a temperature sending unit.

You can PM transengineer, he is extremely knowledgeable about the transmission in your truck.

I don't feel comfy doing that incase I mess up the wire and it stops ready the oe sensor then it would risk the trans
