Default Strange "grinding" type noise in slow speeds and turns

Hello

i was driving through a smoothly paved parking lot today with the windows down and the radio off and I head a funny noise coming from what seemed like the front of the truck.

almost like a grinding noise. i was driving probably 15 miles an hour or slower. it happened as i drove around the parking lot to test the noise. it seemed to happen more when i turned the wheel.

not a clunk, or a wheeze or whine but a dur-dur-dur-dur (say that fast) type noise. i have an appt at the dealership for servicing this coming tuesday August 13.

any advice in the meantime? I hadn't noticed this noise before but I usually have music playing.

any odd noise concerns me!

kind of sounds like a wheel bearing. is it a 4wd or 2wd?

Default Wheel Bearing

Its your wheel bearing(s). Your going to need to get a new one soon or you'll do more damage, which would cost more money. Until you get it repaired avoid long trip, huge bumps, and quick turning.

Just a quick thought. I recently experienced something very similar but I could not pinpoint the noise until it just got real obnoxious all of a sudden, it was the idler pulley on the tension arm. I drove the truck for three weeks until it finally made enough noise I could hear it from the front of the truck. Just a thought.

Could be the idler pulley, but from what and how the OP described it, I would guess more like a wheel bearing.

Patrick, when you're going 15 mph and can hear it, turn the truck to the left and to the right. If it gets louder one way but quiter the other way, it's for sure a bearing.
