Default 2013 Ram Cargo Camera

So I was wondering. My truck came with the back-up camera but not the 3rd brake light mounted cargo camera. Cant remember what they actually call it. I would like that option to watch the hitch and anything in the bed while traveling. Any ideas if the wiring for such would already be routed to the 3rd brake light housing just not used depending on the options requested? There were really only 2 options I would like to add. This camera and the nav. Was told by the dealer I can add the nav to my 8.4a system for $600.

Pretty sure the 3rd brake light cargo camera is a 2014 model year addition.

I think you're right.

Also OP, I doubt you'll be able "...to watch the hitch and anything in the bed while traveling..." from the 3RD BL camera without an over-ride of some type [the name escapes me ATM]. Not gonna' happen. It'll only activate in reversing mode.... like they all do now.

Grub out!

Go to BestBuy and get yourself a large screen Garmin GPS for about 125$. The NAV in the 8.4 isn't Garmin and an update is outrageous. If I hadn't bought with the NAV I sure wouldn't add their mess to it. And if you have a smartphone the google map is superior.

The 3rd Brake camera is a 2013 factory option that I have only seen on one truck.

As for adding this after the fact? Good luck. From what I have seen if it wasn't there from the factory it is a major pain to add it to the truck after the fact. Turning on the navigation seems to be the easiest thing.

This truck has it.

Wasn't an option on my factory order 1500. Maybe a heavy duty option?

This is correct. Not sure on the 2500 but I know for sure on the 3500.

it was installed on a couple 13's I looked at but not the one I eventually bought. I was thinking more along the lines of aiding in hooking up the 5th wheel. was told it could be alternated between the rear view and the 8.4 screen in the dash. I had to explain a few features to them so who knows. Only thing I can find out about it is it's a $325 option. No help in understanding exactly how it can be used.
