Default Firestone AT and MT

looking at 285 70 17 in Firestone AT or MT. does anyone have experiance with these?

have owned BFG's, Cooper and the like but never Firestones. the price and warrenty is pretty attractive.

I checked them out before but didn't buy. They do get very good reviews on most forums and online tire comparisons..

i had a couple buddies that had the m/t's and they loved them. the at's aren't too bad. not great in mud but good in winter and general trail running.

Default Firestone AT's

I ran them for years and used Firestone Destination AT's. Listen to MB, they suck in mud. I'm running "Hercules" on one truck and "Roadian" AT'S on another (Rodian AT's are good in mud).

my offroading is pulling a cargo trailer through harvested grain and corn fields. do you think the AT's are up to it? the fields can get sloppy with enough rain and we do get snow up here.

My problem was mud ejection. You could get through it, but once you get to flat ground and take it out of four wheel and on to the roadway in 2WD, only a hard surface would shake it off (leaves a trail on the roadway for quite a distance). Your neighbors will love you.

But they are life savers in the snow (the wife used to call them "Tiger Paws"). R...

My buddy has the MTs on his H3 . He does pretty well in really everything from sand to mud and I did see he used them in the snow but didn't ask about how they did. When we go out he seems to have trouble getting any kind of wheel spin since they grip the mud pretty well, and they throw it all over the place! The only problem he really has is getting high centered HAHA! I have pulled him out many times when this happened but he also has pulled me out since I have stock tires right now.

Put water with dirt and most AT's pack up with mud and turn to slicks. Don't dick around get the MT's.

Lots of interstate driving, occasional off road, snow and 50 mph, and 60,000 avg. miles per set (with tire rotation) = Firestone destination AT's for price (my experience with them).

Heavy off roading, lots of mud in rough terrain, commute less than 20 miles a day, I'd say MT's only. R...
