Default off the lot tire+rim trade?

So there is this truck I want to get, but it comes with the 20" which I am not too fond of. I will go in the bush with it and I will also get winter tires. Plus, I want the nicer ride, not the looks.
Is it a fair trade to ask the dealer to swap them for 17" with stock off-roads (outdoorsman) for the stock 20" from the SLT? Am I losing money on this?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

I think the value of the 20s is higher than the 17s. But if you get what you want without having to do any selling on Kijiji or whatever, I think its a win. Maybe you can ask for floor mats or something too.

yea, i posted that in a hurry, i just checked, the off roads are a $350 option, the 20" are a $500 option. I'll take the discount in dealer credit against oil changes and such.
thanks !

Why do you believe the ride will be better with the 17" over the 20" wheels?

I just picked up my 2014 with 17 inch wheels and tires. I will trade you for the 20's? they are brand new. Had the truck for a week. I am local in Hamilton.

There are more variables in the equation than just wheel size, for the most part., determining ride quality.

Many previous rides in the past have taught me that.

17's will give you more rubber for off road. And tires are a hell of a lot cheaper than 20's.

Yeah, I think offroad, the difference will be more noticeable. I haven't been in a Ram w 17s to see if I can tell. But I've had plenty of cars where I have gone to bigger rims and noticed it immediately.

@Ranman - I haven't confirmed the deal yet, i have to go to the dealer tomorrow. If it goes well, we can talk about it.

@Grubrunner - I think the 17 are more comfy than the 20 due to the wider tire wall, more flex. The stock 17 will be my winter rims, I am getting black ones for the summer time. Plus, 20s are not really recommended in the bush, I am going north of Sioux Lookout every year.

@h2oman - damn right about that too, LOL.

@LowUFO - haven't done any real off roading, but I read a lot about it and you are right. Plus, I am in the Bancroft area woods every weekend throughout the year.
