Default Oil Pressure Gauge Problem

For the last several weeks, my oil pressure gauge will nose dive when I come to a stop. When I start to drive again, or put the shifter in neutral and rev the engine, the gauge will go up to normal level and stay there.

I replaced the oil pressure sensor (switch) which I found was leaking oil and that remedied the problem....temporarily. A couple of weeks after replacing the sensor switch, the gauge has the same problem, but no leak now.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Might not be a bad gauge. The pressure might be falling off. Maybe time for an oil pump.

Oil level is fine. I was thinking of the oil pump, just hoping it would be something else.. Logic is expensive.

Be real careful and check your oil real regular. mine did the same thing and then hung at normal and I didn't know it. Still don't know where oil went, but spun a rod trying to get back home. In process of rebuilding because of it.

Check your oil pressure with a oil pressure gauge. This will verify if the pump is not maintianing a constant pressure. Once you have it hooked up, test drive and observe. If the same thing occurs, then it could be your oil pump (although those rarely go bad) but it could also be worn bearing causing the loss.
