Default 2012 radio/nav unit NFG?!?!?

Long story short my 2012 head unit was freezing up, took it into the dealership they did their update and They said the navigation is pooched. The only way to fix it is by replacing the entire unit at $1495 +tax.... Anyone else run into this problem??

I find it very amusing that a $1700 (window sticker price) option only lasts 2 years while some cheap $100 gps from Canadian tire would probably last 10x longer.....

I have been searching for my own solutions to a screen going bad on my 730n radio. Has your dealer talked about a refurbished unit? I talked to a guy at a parts counter that said it would be a 250 to 400 dollar option for my radio. Also there are a few companies online that seem to be refurbishing them also for about the same price.

Would you be interested in selling your broken radio for a reduced price if you find another radio to replace it with? I have a 730N with nothing wrong with it except the Nav connector on the back got broke off. Needing to fix that.
