the 5.7 Hemi with MDS uses 5w20. I believe that Mopar uses Pennzoil but not sure whether its Pennzoil Platinum or some other kind.

People might believe it's one brand or another, synthetic or conventional, a certain weight, grade etc. But unless someone actually observes what the factory fill is; it's very difficult to determine.

It's quite easy to imagine some supply side assembly line variables where there is a different factory fill oil from time to time.

It's of very little consequence anyway. If you want a good "break in" - change the oil FILTER once or twice to capture any tailings or unwanted metal fragments

Top off the oil after filter change. Then at 1000 - put SYNTHETIC oil in. There is virtually no engine wear with synthetic oil.

Actually it is highly doubtful. The Production Part Approval Process is quite complicated, as are engineering change processes, for every single component of a vehicle. Even minor process changes three tiers deep in the supply chain will cause massive headaches for approval. If it is not approved, it is not going on/in the vehicle. Now there may be multiple suppliers approved, but it is not like they are going to send someone down to the local Autozone to pick up a pallet of whatever they have handy.

No one suggested employee errands to AutoZone. You still don't know precisely what oil is your factory fill is unless you have a document, description, assembly tag etc.

Know way to know unless there is full traceable documentation.

Which is one reason I changed my oil & filter at 500 and then again at 1000 miles. At a 1K I added synthetic.
