Default 3th Gen 5.9L 2004 Ram 2500 Fuel issue?

I was driving with my father today in our 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 ST
I believe it's before the Lift pump was in the tank, haven't checked yet.
Before we put this thing on the lift I need to ask so i just don't throw parts at it.
We were interring the RV Storage lot to put fuel in our Monaco when it died as we were interring the gate, no; cough, sputter, pops or anything. Just quit.
Nothing was leaking, overheating. We cranked it back up again it ran for 2 feet and died. 3rd time same thing, 4th try it barely started up and quit once it was in gear. The fuel pump or whatever holds it before interring the engine was empty. We put the key in "on" position, the regularly ticking was going on but no sound from the lift pump. The engine wouldn't turn over 4-7th try.
We pushed it by out RV, got fuel for the RV and searched online for issues and parts, geno's has an 04' replacement for $160. Once back 30 minutes later we checked the fuses, tried a push and start, nothing, just keeps trying to turn over.
Anyways we came up with the guess of no fuel interring the primary pump due to the lift pump failing entirely. Warranty expired 4 years ago but under the miles part. Still no help however.
Haven't checked any lines yet. Check Engine light came on immediately after it died. Also all power goes off as if in "off" after the engine dies.
The truck currently has 1/2 tank of gas.
No modifications other then an MagnaFlow exhaust.
Going to a race in a few weeks and he needs to get to work so this is kind of an emergency repair needed.

Truck: 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 ST
Engine: 5.9L 24 Valve Cummins
Turbo: Yes
Issue: Lift Pump possibly dead causing no fuel to enter the engine.

Questions:

1) Would geno's pump for $160 work?
2) Is the pump in 2004 (not 2004.5) located in the tank or behind the fuel filter?
3) What would cause the pump to give out without warning at all?
4) What would've caused this issue?

Thanks in advance
I have a video of the truck trying to start if it'll help

Had it towed to the house, talked with the High School's auto shop teacher. Confirmed it was the lift pump, dang high pressure systems lol.
Anyways ordered the pump from genos for $160. Will be doing a self installation, going to be a b*tch to install it... It's worth it. Best work horse we've owned.
