Default 2000 ram wheel offset

My son has a 2000 ram 4X4 sport. He has 275/70/16 nitto m/t on stock wheels. He wants a new set of wheels that make his tires wider and stick out from under his truck. My question is what offset and widith does he need on his wheels?

not terribly familiar with the 2nd gens but the concept is really the same. I'm assuming the stock offset is like the 3rd/4th gens: +19mm. so if he gets a -12mm, -24mm offset he should get a good stance. now...i'm not sure if he'll need a level on the front to prevent some rubbing with an offset wheel.

I'm not familiar either, but I did try doing a little research earlier while at work. I couldn't find 2000 16" wheel specs specifically, but years around it. It looks like a 7.5" rim with a 13.5mm offset.....could be completely wrong on this....

So before going forward with accurate or inaccurate info we need to know the wheel width and diameter of what he's wanting before offering up an offset to accomplish his goal.
A -12 offset on an 8" wide wheel will fit a lot differently than a -12 offset on a 10" wide wheel.
