Default Removing tailgate?

I not sure if this is the correct place for this question, but here goes. I needed to remove my tailgate today and found out that there is not any electrical coupler to pull the wiring harness out of the tailgate for the power locks. I really can't believe that there isn't any allowance for this on the truck. I even called the Ram dealer to see if I was missing something. All he could tell me was to remove the bedliner cover to the tailgate to access a panel of the tailgate that would open up the latching mechanism. He thought that there might be a wiring harness in the tailgate that would uncouple. Everything in there was hard wired so I'm kinda stumped.

Has anyone had this same problem before? I would appreciate some suggestions.

Hi 4bearhug,

If you crawl under your truck and look between the bumper and the spare tire. there is a connector there. When you pull the tailgate off just unclip the connector and pull it through the whole. I remove mine all the time. My truck also came with the blank pug to put in while the tailgate it off so it doesn't get corroded.
If you can't Dodge em RAM em!
