When do you check your oil? When it's cold or when it's hot?

I have noticed you have to leave the hemi sit for a while till all the oil flows back to the crank case or you will get a false low reading. Its better if it sits over night to get a true reading.

You don't have to worry. If, as other replies in the thread mentioned, you have to remember to "double wipe" or double-dip the oil dipstick sometimes to get an accurate reading.
The oil will stay in the neck-tube of the oil dipstick housing and give inaccurate readings.
A double wipe or double dip will de-clog the residual oil.

If, though, you noticed a little oil consumption during engine newness, no worries - just the metal parts seating and a little factory fill oil blew-off.

Top if off and monitor the oil blow off. Good to see you checked your factory fill oil and observing such stuff.

Switch it over to synthetic by 2000 miles.

I changed my oil at 1500 miles. Let it sit for a few hours. Then just put something to put the oil in and just took the drain plug out. The oil filter makes a mess, just letting you know.
