EODtruck is on a distinguished road
Default Steering shaft shutter/vibrations

Has anyone experienced steering shaft shutter or vibrations, with a loud jarring kind of noise? It usually occurs going 80km/h, 50mph or faster, hitting mild bumps. It just started happening to me. I have 60000km on the truck and just had the outer tie rods replaced last month.....if that means anything. It is really annoying and quit loud.

I avoid all pothole and bumps, but sometimes on a busy highway, its impossible. I mean mild bumps, like a layer of asphalt is gone, but there is still some underneath, about an inch in height.

Thanks!

I have hit some pretty good potholes and speed bumps in the city. Just recently drove on the infamous TX HWY 130 at 90mph, flow of traffic, and truck steers as straight as an arrow. No clunks or thumps either. I would definitely crawl underneath and give those suspension and steering components a close inpection if it were mine. Tug on those tie rod ends and look for any freeplay bud.
