I traded in my 08 quad cab 4x4 big horn with 4.7 for a12 express. I lost a few options i had. The jump from 4.7 to hemi was great plus a whole new warranty. I miss a few things from my 08 but im glad i got the 12

Wow...you'll get mix reviews on this.
But it really all depends on your situation.
Suck as if you can afford? Do you like the no payments now? And the questions go on and on.

Got pics of either? I'm are you'll get more accurate feedback

You've pretty much nailed it.
I strongly wanted to get this gorgeous truck...anyone can look it up..Tomball Dodge Jeep Ram in Tomball Tx. Don't have the link, but easily googled. They have 6 or 7 2012 hard loaded Laramie Limited 4x4 Crew Cabs in blue, black, white, etc.
Gorgeous trucks and I guess they picked up many of these trucks from other local dealers wholesale bc several had dealer stickers that had been peeled off. So, yes, new, untitled, dirty, been sitting, etc. but I was tempted just bc I wanted one..really have no need, it's an extra vehicle and I don't regularly tow, but we utilize occasionally and are always glad we have the 08.

That said, i've decided to hold back. I still love my 08 and I think I'm just gonna update the headlights, taillights, and some interior details and hang onto it. Why roll the dice on a truck that's been sitting for at least a year to two years and then have something maybe go wrong. I know what I have, and that's an extremely reliable 4x2 quad w a newer 4.7 v8 and it's paid off.

Thanks for all your posts, opinions, and insights.
Wish I had never test drove the 2012 (freaking ventilated seats!!!)
I'll post some fotos of the 08 soon and I think I'm making the right decision for me and my family!
Thanks again!

Bayspeed,
I think you are making the right choice.

You are averaging about 10k/yr on your truck which is pretty low for Texas.
Having a good truck with no problems beats a truck payment.

The lure of a new truck is strong - I get it.

We (wife and I) just got our 2012 because our 2001 Ram 1500 Regular Cab was totalled.
170,848 trouble free miles - I can only hope this new truck lasts as long.

The whole time we owned our 2001, I watched my BIL buy a new truck every couple of years. He never paid one off.
Yeah, his trucks were always newer, bigger, and fancier than our truck, but so were his payments.
Every time he gets a new truck, I tell him how much I like it, but just smile to myself knowing his payments are horrendous.

We started to buy a new truck, but decided on the 2012 with 13k miles on it, paid cash, so we still don't have any truck payments.
So, when my BIL buys his 2014, I will tell him how great I think it is, and continue to smile to myself about his payments.

Sad thing is, I find myself searching craigslist for another 2001 1500 RC w/manual transmisson.
lol

I'm actually shocked that there are still brand-new 2012 Ram 1500's available?

Wow!

I'm the type of person who doesn't [attempt to] fix something that isn't broke.

JohnnyDollar and GrubRunner...THANKS

Sometimes emotions get in the way of logic
Sometimes it's the constant hunt for an incredible deal that can't be true
Sometimes it's ego
Today, I decided on logic..
Must mean I'm not only getting OLD, but also Wiser.

I commend you for that and wish I can make a decision on logic vs wants.
I am slowly learning that
This just reminds me to think based on logic vs emotions

Oh and BTW
My 08 is nearly mint. It's not like I'm settling at all. Great truck. It's that desert sand color w/prem cloth inside...can't wait to get started on doing a few mods to get this rig looking updated and virtually new again...
