Default Vibration only at 40mph?

Hey guys, about 3 weeks ago I bought my new 2013 1500. Since then total miles are about 550, and I baby it.

However, lately I have noticed a strong vibration coming from the front end only when I am cruising in the low 40 mph's. It doesn't matter if I have cruse control set or not. If I am cruising above 45 or below 40 at any speed, no vibrations at all.

Since this is a new truck, is this normal? Has this been happening to anyone else? I figured I should post here before I take this issue to the dealership.

Thanks guys.

Could be wheel balance. I had a vibration on my jeep at around 50-55 mph and once the wheels were rebalanced, no more vibration.

Yes, get the tire balance checked, but if they say it was fine or the balance was only off just a little bit, see if the vibration continues. If it does, take it back and have them dismount the tires and check for a warped WHEEL. What you are describing could easily be either.

It could be as simple as the MDS kicking in. That seems to be where I feel it the most. Try clicking the "Gear -" button once, then click the "Gear +" button until you get to "8". This disables the MDS but still cycles through all 8 gears. Then drive at 40 mph and see if the vibration is gone. If it is the MDS, then the vibration is normal. If not, out of balance wheel is a good guess..

Thanks! I had a feeling it might be the MDS, but this is a new platform for me so everything is new to me. I will try this tomorrow morning on the way to work. After I put it to "8" and check for vibration, I assume I click down 8 times to reactivate MDS?

Good info from all on this one. But, with the narrow window of MPH that this occurring in, it really sounds like a wheel weight. It is rare for them to come off, but if one gets loose and "slides" a little on the rim, there you go. JMO.

Actually, hitting the "+" one additional time (if you're in "8") will get you back into MDS.

Let us know if you figure it out and what the fix is...

I had the same problem with mine as well. No hemi in my truck but it did come with 4 ply tires. After my dealer undercoated it thinking that it would help (no-charge). They agreed with me that it was the crappy tires on it. Upgraded to the factory 10 ply tires, no more vibration.

Default **Solved** Vibration only at 40mph?

Well I am only able to click it to "6" not "8" however, No vibration. When I reactivate MDS I feel the vibration. I just find it strange that I can feel it so much, but since it being new I just have to get used to it.

Thank you guys for all the help!
