Exclamation TPMS sensor

I purchased new TPMS sensors when I bought new wheels/tires. The dealership can't program them. They said because the S/Ns i gave them are 10 digit numbers and the truck will only take 8 digit numbers. Has anyone run into this before?

I just bought a new tire/wheel set from tirerack and had them install new TPMS. Installed them last night and my truck picked up the sensors immediately and showed me tire pressures on all 4 tires. Paper work said it might take 20min of continuous driving for them to sync with the truck. But mine were working before before I got to the end of my street.

I have an 2011 and I see you have on 09. that might make a difference IDK.

That's crazy. I thought they had to be programed to your truck. wish mine was like that.

Are you sure that yours need to be programmed by the dealer? My truck picked my new ones up just like wvmtb. I would have thought 2009's were the same.

Where did you get the sensors from? I know that different year trucks use different sensors. Is it possible they sent you the wrong ones?

I purchased them through rimzoneonline.com

They installed them, mounted, and balanced them before they sent them to me. When I was at the dealership they told me that mid year 2009 they changed the frequency on the TPMS sensors for the Dodge Rams and I guess that is also when they started allowing the sensors to program themselves. The dealership couldn't read the sensors when they hooked up their device to it. and yes each vehicle requires a certain TPMS so they very well could have sent me the wrong ones.

I called Rimz One and they said that I could get a full refund from them if I sent them the sensors back so that's good. I'll probably have them sent back and either purchase new ones or have the old ones from my stock tires removed and installed in the new tires, which ever is cheaper. That sucks because i will have to pay to remount the tires again.

I plan on selling the stock wheels/tires so do you think that they will be worth less without the sensors? Should I try and sell the wheels and tires separate or pay to have them remounted and sell as a bundle?

Definitely a pain to deal with that.... Hopefully you can get a good deal on unmounting and remounting your tires.

As far as selling your stock ones go I'd definitely say they're worth more with the sensors installed. If you can I would just leave them together and sell them as is. If you do unmount them to get the stock sensors I would leave them apart and try to sell them separately. No point in remounting them without sensors if the buyer will just have to unmount them again to put sensors in.

Good point Brandon. thanks for the help. I'll probably buy OEM sensors and have the dealership replace them and send in the aftermarkets for a refund. I can get a good deal on labor at the dealership since I am in good with one of the guys.
